The skill is a great money saving software-based alternative to the FritzSmartGateway since you can save the energy cost of the additional device and the purchasing price of the device itself. Let’s have a look at the cost comparison over 5 years:
- The FritzSmartGateway consumes 3W which sums up to 26,28kWh per year (3W with 8760h = 3W * 8760 h = 26,28 kWh) with energy cost at 33ct/ kWh this sums up to 8,67€ / year. Over 5 years this makes 43,35€
- The FritzSmartGateway cost at least 80€
- In total this sums up to 123,35€ over the time of 5 years
Im comparison our service costs with 15€ per year in 5 years time 75€, so a lot less. So it is a more cost efficient alternative and can easily bridge the gap until a new Fritzbox needs to be installed and then you can use the build in matter functionality to connect to Alexa.

And last but not least the skill needs to be activated in the Alexa App. Please search under ‘Skills and Games’ for Fritz2Alexa and follow the skill activation process incl. the account linking process so that the skill can access the configuration. Here again a video how this is done:
After the skill has been activated and a device search has been done via the voice command “Alexa, discover devices”. Then you can control one device in the free status. You can select in the configuration page which device can be controled or you support us by activating Pro.
