Libretto is the iPhone app for your LibreChat servers. Employees reach your company’s AI assistant quickly and securely, also by voice, in the car (CarPlay) or through Siri. Your data only travels between the device and your own server.

Libretto is an unofficial app and not affiliated with the LibreChat project.

Licensing for your employees

Libretto is free for private, non-commercial use. If employees use the app for work, including with their employer’s server, you need a license for commercial use. This is covered by our terms of use.

  • Organization license (recommended): One license for all employees of your organization or your instance(s), by invoice outside the app. You receive a quote, and handling is straightforward and suitable for your accounting.
  • Individuals: Employees can also confirm commercial use themselves in the app (one-time purchase through the App Store, invoice only through Apple). The purchase unlocks no features and shows the badge “Commercially licensed” in the app.

For a quote write to sales@computeq.de and tell us: company and billing address, the domain(s) of your LibreChat instance(s) and the approximate number of employees who should use Libretto. We give you prices on request.

The app does not technically check the license. We rely on the terms of use being respected.

Security and privacy at a glance

  • No data with us: We run no server for Libretto, there is no account with us, no advertising and no tracking. Chat content and credentials leave the device only towards your own server.
  • Only your server: Libretto displays LibreChat servers only and checks this before loading. Other websites are refused.
  • Separate profiles: Each profile has its own isolated browser storage. Private and work servers stay apart.
  • Credentials in the keychain: Optional automatic re-login, protected by Face ID and the iOS keychain. Single sign-on (e.g. Microsoft) and MCP authorizations are supported.
  • Local speech output: By default the iOS system voice reads answers aloud on the device. A cloud voice (OpenRouter) is optional and off by default.
  • Speech recognition: On the device by default. If a user switches that off or the language is not available on the device, iOS uses Apple’s speech recognition.

Details are in our privacy policy.

What your IT can set

To keep answer texts from going to speech services that are not approved, your IT can define speech output centrally. Employees cannot loosen such a policy.

  • Through your device management (MDM): Intune, Jamf, Workspace ONE and others deliver the policy as managed app configuration. It applies to the whole device or per domain.
  • Through your LibreChat server: A small file on your server defines the allowed speech output for everyone who uses your instance with Libretto. This works without device management too.

Example: Only the iOS system voice is allowed for your domain, employees’ private profiles are unaffected. The guide for administrators: Libretto Work: restricting speech output.

Further policies (for example a list of allowed servers) are planned. Tell us what you need.

Rolling it out

  • Distribution: Libretto comes from the App Store and can be rolled out to managed devices through Apple Business Manager and your device management.
  • Try it: A demo profile in the app shows features and voice mode without needing a server.
  • Requirement: A reachable LibreChat server of your organization.
